I have always strived to live simply, but as the years go by, it's becoming more of a burning desire. Leaving my marketing career to pursue the study of Naturopathic Nutrition lead me to cut down on frivolous spending. Three years later, here I am - a mother to a beautiful 1 year old girl, an almost qualified nutritionist, and a housewife with no income. Whilst I got by with my savings until recently, it is only in the last few months that my intense desire to simplify has become a need.
In this blog, I would like to journal my quest for simplicity, which I would like to include:
1. Less stuff - less clothes, less junk, less furniture, less shopping.
2. Less plastic - I have dramatically reduced my plastic consumption but still struggle with food packaging, so this will be a big focus for me.
3. Less distractions - a self-confessed internet and TV addict, I often find myself zoning out of conversations with loved ones because I'm either looking at my phone or watching some junk on TV. It's shameful and I'd like to amend that.
4. Less food - As an Italian, I am obsessed with food. I love spending time in the kitchen, reading food blogs and planning elaborate recipes. With a tight budget I am having to learn to plan ahead and cook simpler meals. Pair that with my pursuit of plastic-less life, the food consumption will definitely change around these parts!
So here's to a year of simplifying and to learning how to live with less.
